What is GDP?

This article gives brief idea on what is GDP and how it is important to a countries growth. The word GDP is almost heard by anyone by the media, but most of the people not aware what exactly the GDP and why it is important. What is GDP?

GDP stands for Gross Domestic Product. This is used for measuring the health of a country. Every country will announce its GDP growth every year. The better growth in the GDP means, countries economy growing in the good pace. Calculating the GDP is not easy and the countries may use the different techniques to measure the GDP. the calculation can be done in one of two ways: either by adding up what everyone earned in a year (income approach), or by adding up what everyone spent (expenditure method). Logically, both measures should arrive at roughly the same total. It tells us how much money was made in the economy over a certain period of time.
