Rental Prices in Chennai

I am writing this post to share few of my experiences while searching the rental house in Chennai. I stayed in Bangalore for the past couple of years and I have paid the rent of Rs.10500 in HSR Layout. The location and area is very nice I felt it is worth paying that much rent. Event though I always feel that the prices are too high and Chennai is quite normal in the rental prices (where I stayed before three years). I didn’t know the current situation in Chennai. When I got transfer to Chennai I am quite happy man because I have dream Chennai in mind three years before.
The worst thing happened when I started searching the house in Chennai. I have to get the house in South Chennai because my office is located there. I started with Adayar and Thiruvanmyur area. It is too costly and difficult to get 2BHK house for Rs.10000. I came to know that I will have to pay Rs.150000 if I need house in good residential area. Comparing to Bangalore it is nearly 30% higher in the rental prices. Then I decided to search the house in outer area like Perungudi and Duraipakkam. I am able to get the 2BHK house for Rs.9000 with some compromises.
I am writing this post to share the experience with people who are planning to shift to Chennai. Apart from rental prices every thing become costlier in Chennai. The reason why it happened is IT sector developed very rapidly in the last few years compare to any other city in India.
