How to Pay LIC premium online?

Introduction

In this article I will be writing about the online payment of LIC policies. I think this article might be helpful to most of the readers because almost everyone has own LIC policies for them. Most of the people think that paying the LIC premium is only through agents or directly to the LIC office. But, paying through LIC’s official website would be hassle free and saves you lot of time. Moreover you can pay many policies in the single account. You can read the following stpes to make the LIC premium online.

Step 2 : Enroll policy

After creating the user account you can login to the portal with the new created username. Once logged in you have to add your policy number to retrieve the policy details. In the left side menu you will find “Enroll Polices” link. Click on that link and add your policy number and the premium amount.

Step 3 : View Policy details

If you enroll a policy, then you will be able to view all the details related to that policy. It includes policy started date, sum assured, plan, policy term, address, premium, next premium due, acrued bonus, branch and agent details. The following is the screen that shows the above details:

Step 4 : Pay LIC Premium

Now you are ready to make the payment online. Click on the ‘Pay Premium Online” link and you will see a list of policies you have enrolled in yoour account. Select the policies which you want to enroll and click on the submit button. It will be landing to the Payment Gatway site where you will be making the payment. Once done you will be returning to the same webpage.

Step 5 : View Premium Receipt

You can view the premium receipt anytime. It is one advantage if we are making the payment online. We can keep the receipts safely.

Update:

You have to create separate user id if you are enrolling policy for different persons. It is because the system will not allow you to enroll the policy if the profile birth date and enrolled policy holder’s birth date does not match. They also suggested to use the separate user id for each person.

Summary

I hope this article will be useful for the readers who want to pay the LIC premium online. If you have any doubts please post it in the comments section. Like explained in the above article, you can add any number of policies in the same username. Thank you for reading the article!!

    Hello Madhav,

I found one thing while enrolling the new policy. If the profile’s birth date and birth date of policy which you are enrolling is different, then it will not allow you to add the policy. This restriction is because each person should have the separate user id to enroll the policy.

    Thanks,

According to the article which you written we get all the thing but I have one question?
Is there any Issue, When we are paying our LIC premium via any Debit Card whether it is of any bank (i.e SBI, HDFC, ICICI etc) LIC getting money through this transaction and that is purely white money due to bank transaction, so there is no issue about type of money.

With that this comes under section 80C but it also comes under section 10 10D where after maturity we will not paying any income tax on that money. Actually one of the guys told me this thing so I just want to confirm with You.

    Hi All,

I am really to happy after making payments through LIC online facility. Offcourse, not happy about parting away with my money!. The reason I have for my happiness is, the payment was so simple and could finish things in few clicks.
Here are few things from my feel on this payment. Hope it helps someone. Before anything, a huge ‘Thank You’ to Krishna for his initial blog. I was searching aroung to pay online through Credit card and stumbled on Krishna’s blog. I was hoping to pick some points by paying online through credit card. I had a bad news, the facility is available only for debit cards and internet banking. I guess, only SBI credit card has the facility to pay online through credit card. Not sure of procedures for it.
Below are some steps I took to complete the payments and responses/outcomes I got:
    1. Registered at https://www.licindia.in/
    2. Once logged in, gave all details of the policy numbers which I wanted to pay. Took care to enter proper policy number and Date of birth. If you are registering newly, look back to your policy to make sure of DOB you have in policy. This is vital.
(After this I did not make payment for few days as I was still hoping to make my payment through Credit card and went to the branch, if they can accept there. I had more bad news. They don’t even take debit cards!. They said, they don’t have swipe machines.. it is either cash or cheque!)
    3. Back to pavilion.. then logged back to LIC portal. At the right portion there is a link ‘Pay Premium Online’ under Customer Services section. Choosing this will open a page listing all the ‘Policies for Pr. Payment’. with check box to select at the end of it. I wanted to test the waters and chose only one and ‘Submit’ted.
    4. This will bring up another page ‘Confirm Premium Payment’ listing all the selected policies. You can cancel from here or Choose Yes to continue.
    5. Choosing this will take to the Bill Desk’s Payment Gateway for making payment to LIC. This will show the Transaction ID, Premium amount (based on what needs to be paid as per your HLF/YRLY option..), with a option to select Payment Option. This lists the options in two categories.. Debit Cards and Online Bank Account. I could see only CitiBank and Union Bank debit cards as options here for debit cards. while Online Bank Account category had huge list of banks, probably I can look here, if I need to list all banks for any other reason ;) . Yep, I had citibank account and chose Citibank Debit card and hit submit.
    6. This took me to Citibank’s Payment gateway. Do not worry where is the money coming and going into.. It’s handled properly I feel. Though this citibank Gateways shows their common Gateway page, with the option to select other bank cards or Citibank Credit card, everything else is disabled with Citibank Debit Card option alone selected and available.
    7. Entered my Card number (16 digits), expiry month, Internet password for debit card and Submitted.
    8. Voila! It was over in 2-3 seconds.. I was surprised with the quickness, that I was thinking, I made some mistake. Nope! Now I was taken back to the LIC’s page with the details ‘Your last successful transaction’ having Transaction No, Date, Amount, Reciept Number.
    9. Then looked my reciept under ‘View Pay Premium Online – Receipts’ in Customer Services section. The Renewal Premium receipt was ready with neat details digitally signed. I am sure, even if I were to pay at a branch as a privilage customer, I wouldn’t have had my receipt this quick. Technology is changing India!. That’s the key in our lives now. I do not have doubt about the validity of this receipt, as it is digitally signed. I guess, I should not have problems in submitting for my tax returns proofs.

That’s it. THE END of payment my payment story. Now i need to print this receipt whenever, wherever I need and submit to, whovever, whatever they need it for!

You have the option to subscibe to SMS. Not sure how it works. Should get alerts about premium due, premium paid..

Hope this helps someone. If so, thank Krishna and me and all, so there is some use of writing this big blog! ;) .

    Have a nice time.
