Stock Exchanges to extend their trading hours

SEBI-India

Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) is working between 9.55 AM to 3.30 PM. The request is made by the exchanges to SEBI for extending the trading hours. Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) also permitted the move and soon the exchanges will be working between 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM.

The exchanges had been requesting Sebi to extend trading hours for quite some time as they, particularly the NSE, were losing a portion of their volumes to the Singapore-based SGX, which allows futures trading on Nifty and opens before our exchanges do.

It is clear that when the new trading hours will be implemented. But, SEBI asked all the exchanges to add enough resources and infrastructure to facilitate the long trading hours. When the exchanges are ready, the new trading hours will be implemented.
