Perquisites will be taxed from 1st April, 2009

taxcut

It is hard time for the salaried people. Income Tax India has just send the notification for collecting the tax for perquisites availed by the employees since 1st April, 2009. We already know that budget 2009-10 announced the removal of Fringe Benefit Tax(FBT) , but, the exact rate at which it will be collected is not announced at that time.

Last week they have send the notification to all the employers with the details and requesting them to collect the tax on perquisites following three months.  So, the take home salary for the next three months may be affected for those who have used the FBT by submiting all their Car expenses, etc.

This site has more details about the perquisites tax rates.
